Certificate of citizenship for Francis Schiffenmaker, 1849.

Before the County Court in Hartford, Connecticut, Schiffenmaker took an oath to support the constitution and renounce allegiance to the present government of France, from which he came. This certificate of citizenship was witnessed by the court clerk, Chauncey Howard, and the acting judge, Charles C. Tyler.
